概要	The main purpose of this paper is to investigate a possible scenario in the relationship between the author and reader in the digital era using Japanese mobile novels as a concrete example. With the ongoing debate over the increasing popularity of the digitization of books, an analysis of the phenomenon of mobile novels (keitai shosetsu) in Japan may help to broad our understanding of the future of book publications, and of the literature, in general, during this era of new media. The important changes occurring in the relationship between authors and readers are also investigated.
